Four VR projects presented at the festival to be shown at Sundance 2016
Three virtual reality projects presented in November at the Geneva International Film Festival Tous Ecrans feature on the programme of the next Sundance Festival. These projects include Real Virtuality: Immersive Explorers, which inaugurated the digital section of the 21st Festival, Viens!, a project by Michel Reilhac shown as a work in progress, and Waves of Grace, by Gabo Arora and Chris Milk, which featured in the selection of VR projects presented at Wonderlab – the Festival’s area dedicated to digital creation.
Also selected for Sundance this year – and organised by the Geneva Festival in association with Swiss Digital Alliance with the support of Pro Helvetia – Sequenced featured in the Swiss Digital Showcase at the Cannes’ Film Festival last May. Project creator Emilie Joly was also on the Transmedia Jury of the 21st Geneva International Film Festival Tous Ecrans. Another member of the Transmedia Jury this year, Arnaud Colinart will present his latest production Notes on Blindness – Into Darkness, at Sundance.
A sign of the strength of digital creation in Switzerland lies in the fact that two of the projects selected by Sundance, Real Virtuality: Immersive Explorers and Sequenced, originate from Swiss companies. Both based in Geneva, apelab and Artanim studios have each developed their own technology, which brings significant technological progress to the creation of virtual reality .
The Festival congratulates the creators, designers and authors of these projects and invites the public and professionals alike to discover, from 4 November 2016 onwards, the best of cinematic, TV and digital creation of the coming year!
