2012 PRIZES AND AWARDS

TV SERIES

Reflet d'Or for Best TV Series : offered by the State of Geneva: CHF 5'000
ONE NIGHT, by Paul Smith - SCREENING FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9 - 7.15 PM - GRUTLI LANGLOIS

A WORD FROM THE JURY : "One Night is not only a human and profound drama reflecting on contemporary society. The series convinced the jury for a lot of other reasons: the story is thrilling thanks to tiny psychological details and daily, ordinary objects. In other words the effect of "making a mountain out of a molehill" is really put into innovative audiovisual aspects. This is of course not new in screenwriting, but One Night convinced mainly with its way of constructing this "simple" idea by offering a deep and voluntary slow look into the feelings of the strong and well constructed characters. Their behaviour is frightening, touching and instantaneous, brought together with the social and the meteorological climate in the neighborhood, One Night is a two winged winner by combining action and feelings on an individual and collective level at the same time. This is what creates the proximity with the story but also the strange burdensome mood."

DEEP, by Julien Hurteau - SCREENING FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9 - 7.15 PM - GRUTLI LANGLOIS

What should a web series be in 2012? A web series is about originality, tone and a world which includes everything we expect from film and TV but remains a separate medium which is new and artistically different.
A web series is about narrative freedom as well as clever and original form and content. 'Deep' embodies the web series in 2012.
